My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic
This is what most people today will think of when asked about My Little Pony.
This animated series airing on The Hub, a channel for kids but a lot of the shows appeal to adults too, was developed for television by Lauren Faust, who is known for her work on two of Cartoon Network's shows, The Powerpuff Girls and Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends.
The show follows Twilight Sparkle, the purple unicorn in the image above, discovering the secrets of Friendship with her baby dragon assistant Spike and her five new friends under Princess Celestia's orders. Anyone who hasn't seen it, you can find full episodes on Youtube; there are 26 in the first season and a second season has been confirmed but not announced yet on when it's to begin.
Below are more images from the show:

Spike, Big Macintosh, Princess Celestia, Nightmare Moon/Princess Luna and the Mane Six
If you haven't seen the show I highly recommend it. It doesn't talk down so it's not all that kiddie-kiddie and it's hilarious. The writers have done a wonderful job with personalities and characteristics for each pony, so they're all different instead of the somewhat cookie-cutter ideal that the first generation had.
